Facing waves, fear

Facing waves is a close metaphor to facing your fears. The bigger the wave, the more courage builds. Undisputable law of physics. To the point of finding rythm and balance. Then not even courage is necesary. Lucky to be in Miramar Beach on this cloudy, windy day.
Forecast had nothing. Yet bombs is what I found. Overhead, stormy and in solitude. Sometimes it's better to burn out than to fade away.

Anonymous, unanimous.

Life is simply the will to live and love. Its a live force, organic energy. So is CJJ. Simple. There is no path, there is only the way, to be. To embark on self-discovery without falling for ego-centric. To be one with the whole.

Peripheral vision development and awareness

Is another reason why I believe in soccer as a vital component of total fitness development. Having great leg strength and control is not enough, being aware and alert is an acquired state, one must cultivate it. To act in a split second.

the now

For CJJ, the "now" means the act of leveraging the past into the future. Anchoring the past during its strongest moments into the path for the future. Exerting during these peak times. Philosofically speaking. In leg-speak, anticipation and awareness of step sequence, one into the next. It is the continous practice of that juggling act that crystallizes the philosofy into reality and merging occurs. Once realized, understood and learned.

Pure Balance as a component of life, it's what I'm talking about.

now =                              past / present

About the road...

And around the bend. This practice is about always making an honest effort of returning to what's right and righteous. Uncompromised integrity, rigurous practice, stoic devotion. Where the end becomes the road. And where the road leads, cedes importance, it dilutes like sand in the dessert.

No pain, no gain? Really?

As a reality, it's inevitable; as philosophy, flawed. Less pain, more gain! Is the optimist way. Long-term care and recovery is what I got.
The bliss of a goal, then the painful aftermath. Victory at last, ego stroked, momentary group joy spiked with a stabbing pain. (It was however, a great goal, a grrrrreat finish! I have to modestly admit.)
Damage is damage, 100% recovery is a rare occurrence. That's the pain. The greater pain is days away from action. Precious time slowly sweeping under the door, to the great outdoors.

This time, though it was special and worth it. My 3-y-o kept chanting the entire game: gol, de Papi!!!  Way to set the example papi-o! Sometimes the pain is worth it in the end. Sometimes, only sometimes. Gotta know when.

Sometimes I wonder ...

If I'm like Don Quixote, drunk on the sweet elixir of life, adrift in imagination, refusing to give up on lingering youth.

Then I swiftly come to the realization, there is a Don Quixote inside all of us, waiting to be told to get on the road in search of adventure. The fight is engrained. Undeniable.
Today, rise up again, with the morning sun. Ready for the world, bring on the giants, cyclops, goliaths and windmills. Maybe not as young, but maybe a little more youthful.

Physical and Mental Fitness.

In life, as in sports, it all comes down to decissions, little ones and big ones, life or death. Sometimes instinctly! Whether we make the right ones or not depends on one's conditioning and ability to react. Are you fast on your feet? Is the first question that always comes to my mind when I ask about the status quo. That answer till today continues to be the component of soccer dexterity. In a more ample sense, the aid of a soccer ball for trainning.

Repetition has no space here. The idea is basic and comprehensive: to harmonize the body's flow of movement, to enhance muscle-brain electricity and to continue to develop by creating situations that force quick-decissions, at a muscular level. Reaping the benefits of fully balanced and anchored gait is worth all the fun spent during these excercises. Having great control of the socer ball, equally with both feet, can only mean one thing: great control of one's body. What's to follow?

You wanna know why Brazilians are such good martial arts fighters? They've been playing soccer since they were kids. And wanna know why they are such good Soccer players? Samba! They've been dancing this lightning fast foot extravaganza since their birth. Almost scientifically we can infer that early exceptional lower extremity dexterity is a solid foundation to a world title and belt. Are them feet amoving? Never too late. The best time to start was many years ago. The next best time: today!

the gait of a Ninja.

Ninjas.... I was recently pleasantly amused when I heard the description of their essence: highly resistant to pain, respectful of life, noble in spirit. Wether this is tru or not, doesn't matter much. It is however a nice blueprint for self development. Their footwork is exceptional. And the incorporation of a soccer ball in physical development is essential to achieve such mobility. Split-second decissions, all the time, fine tuning brain-muscle coordination and communication. For the martial artist this represents another depth of preparation. A sharper concentration and more precise control. This could even turn into an advantage. Trade the rigid gym bag for the elusive soccer ball, kick just as hard.

Contact me if you'd like to know more details. It's2:03 pm, and a beautiful day today. My legs are salivating for some fresh air and skilled action. It's on!
